BANGI, 21 March 2017 – All SMEs need to be creative and innovative in order remain competitive in the market, said UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs, Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Riza Atiq Abdullah OK Rahmat.
He said, in the modern world, cross border businesses enhanced the need for SMEs to be creative in ensuring their business move forward.
“So, we need students who are entrepreneurial, and able to manage businesses efficiently and effectively,” he said at the TOT Siswapreneur@SME 2017 Workshop, in UKM, recently.
He said the workshop content will be able to expose students to business management as they will be visiting and providing advisory services to companies in the field of management, marketing and finance.
Meanwhile, he said that the presence of entrepreneurial lecturers to the workshop is testimony to the commitment of each University in achieving the aspirations of MOHE (Ministry of Higher Education) to produce holistic, balanced and creative students who could create wealth as compared to only earning wages.
MOHE has given the opportunity to five universities, namely Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK), to be participants of the TOT Siswapreneur@SME 2017 Workshop,
Last year, the programme successfully helped 60 PPRN (Public-Private Research Network) companies through 291 students and 60 supervisors from eight universities.
