UKM and National Archives of Malaysia Cooperate in Keeping Resource Development and Research

BANGI, 20 February 2018 – Univesiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and National Archives of Malaysia (ANM) strengthen the strategic collaboration in resources development and research through the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both organisations.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Income Generation and Development, Prof Dato’ Dr Nor Ghani Md Nor said through the MoU, many areas could be explored for the mutual benefit of both parties.

“It is included in student placement in industry training, research from lecturers and students, training and workshops for officers and staff for both parties.

“With the proper planning, this effort will give benefit to us,” he said while delivering his speech at the ceremony.

He believe with the expertise in UKM and ANM, that collaboration will achieve the target to develop human recourse aspect, governance, preservation and conservation, record management, human recourse development course an the implementation of the verbal history programme.

“I hope this strategic relationship will give big impact and benefit to enlarge knowledge and not only bring to material development, but produce an intellectual and thinker who will be a role in determining the direction of the country in the future,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Director of ANM, Dato’ Azemi Abdul Aziz said the efforts that were made by UKM and the ANM are expected to provide guidance and good advice to ensure that records are stored can be preserved up to hundreds of years.

“If we see the top universities in the world such as Harvard University and Cambridge University, they still keep the records of hundred years ago.

“Records of excellence, successful track researches records and records of successful students have been well preserved. It is a valuable asset for our company,” he said.
