UKM-FCU Further Strengthen the Research Collaboration in Seven Focus Area

BANGI, 12 December 2019 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) through the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FKAB) hosting a Research Collaboration Seminar with Feng Chia University (FCU), Taiwan to meet one of the activities contained in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UKM and FCU.

Through the opening speech by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation of UKM, Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Abdul Wahab Mohammad said, the seminar is hoped to further strengthen the research collaboration between UKM and FCU especially in the seven focus area of research including Language and Culture, i-Night Market, HARCOLL Robot/Artificial Intelligence, Social Enterprise and Social Entrepreneurship, Smart City, Intelligent Electronics for Medical Applications and Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA).

FCU represented by the President, Prof Dr Bing-Jean Lee in his speech expressing his gratitude towards UKM in hosting the seminar for this year and at the same time achieving the agreement to hold annual discussion.

“I hope that we can have more exchange students and academicians between these two universities especially in those seven focus area we have agreed on,” he said.

MoU between UKM and FCU has begun back in 2013 and the agreement has been extended until 2023 through an agreement signed on 14 December 2017.

Through the close collaboration between these two universities, in 2018 UKM has sent a lecturer to teach Malay Language at the Foreign Language Centre, FCU. Meanwhile, in 2019, FCU sending a lecturer to teach at UKM.

In 2017, UKM has hosted this kind of seminar held at the Bangi-Putrajaya Hotel and FCU in 2018 has hosted the seminar at Taiwan.

For 2019, the aim of the seminar is for the researchers to present their progress especially in those seven focus area of research and also to discuss about their upcoming activities that include exchange students and academicians, joint publications and application of international funds.
