BANGI, 11 July 2017- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) opened its second branch of UKM Health Polyclinic at Bangi Avenue recently.

UKM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali who officiated the opening of the Polyclinic said this is one of the ways to expand UKM’s healthcare services.

“I see all this as a university service to the community and hope God will bless this effort,” he said.

Meanwhile, UKM Holdings chairman, Muhammad Ibrahim said the opening of UKM Polyclinic is a service provided not only for UKM but also for the community.

“UKM polyclinics offer lower rates for treatment compared to other clinics and will be opened for 24 hours.

“The medicines used are safe since they are sourced from reliable sources,” he said.

He said the new branch of UKM Polyclinic also offers services including vaccines for typhoid and rotavirus to prevent diseases such as tuberculosis and influenza.

“In addition, these branches also offer ultrasound services. X-ray services will be available in the future,” he explained.

In terms of doctors’ recruitment, he said UKM would prioritize the recruitment of UKM medical graduates.

“But if there are no applicants from UKM medical graduates, we will accept doctors who are recognized and registered with the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) to work here (polyclinic).

UKM will also be opening four new branches located in Seremban 2, Putrajaya, Kota Warisan and Salak Perdana.

Currently, UKM has a Polyclinic in Section 15, Bandar Baru Bangi which operates for 24 hours.
