UKM Professor among Six Malaysiana Awarded the ADE 2017

BANGI, 2 August 2017 – A UKM Professor, Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Kamal Ariffin Mohd Ihsan, from Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment was awarded the Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) 2017 accolade in Melbourne, Australia, recently.
He was among six educators in Malaysia who received that prestigious award.
ADE is a globally renowned award, which recognizes educators who utilises technology to transform teaching and learning sessions, either in schools or higher education institutions.
Prof Ir Dr Ahmad Kamal Ariffin said that the success made him more eager to teach.
“The selection process was meticulous as the criteria set was quite stringent. I submitted a two-minute video as proof of the work I have done,” he said.
About 2,500 educators all over the world has received the award Since ADE was introduced in 1994.
He added that using Apple apps made lessons more interesting for students.
“The lessons became more interesting and students were also more eager to learn,” he explained.
He also encouraged young lecturers to utilise current technology in teaching and learning as it excites students and made lessons more appealing.
