UKM Wins Three National Book Awards 2016

BANGI, 29 December 2016 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) won three prestigious awards at the National Book Award 2016, recently.
The three awards are for the Social Science Category through Persekutuan Malaysia 1961-1966: Penubuhan dan Cabaran, written by Dr Mohd Shamsudin, the Best Luxury Book Category namely Machincang Cambrian: Geoforest Park: Langkawi Geopark Malaysia by Prof Dr Norhayati Ahmad, Prof Madya Dr Kamal Roslan and Prof Dr Mohd Shafeea Leman and the Translation from English to Malay category through the book Keajaiban Alam Marin written by Prof Dr Maimon Abdullah and Prof Dr Norhayati Ahmad.
Chairman of Penerbit UKM, Prof Dr Kamal Halili Hassan said Penerbit UKM will continue to publish scholarly books of high quality in accordance with the University’s intention to produce an educated generation.
He also said that the award received was one of the biggest victory gained by UKM, especially for luxury books.
Meanwhile, Dr Mohd said that he had to travel to the United Kingdom and Australia to collect materials for the book.
“This award is very special and is a culmination of my effort and the challenges I faced throughout the 10 years I took to complete the writing,” he said.
