BANGI, 6 Jan 2014 – Director of the Centre for Academic Development, Prof Ir Dr Riza Atiq Abdullah has been appointed the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs of The National University of Malaysia (UKM).
The handing over ceremony was held at the Chancellery here today by Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali who held the post prior to his appointment as UKM’s new Vice Chancellor.
Prof Noor Azlan while congratulating Prof Riza Atiq on his appointment said that it was not desirable for UKM to ‘commoditise’ itself where everything is the same with no diversity hoping that Prof Riza Atiq can bring his years of experience and knowledge towards developing UKM into a more outstanding and diverse university.
Prof Riza Atiq thanked the Vice Chancellor and his fellow academicians who had assisted him through all his endeavours at UKM and pledged to do his best to fulfil his responsibilities.
“We must show that UKM can offer more, in terms of how we manage the university and the types of courses and studies we offer. I know that this job will be impossible without help, so let us all band together and help make UKM a better institution of higher education,” he said.
Among those attending were the other Deputy Vice Chancellors, Heads of Departments, Principals of Residential Colleges and other academicians.
