BANGI, 28 May 2014 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) recently hosted nine local universities to the 25thIntervarsity Biochemistry Seminar 2014 at its campus here.
Apart from UKM the other universities were Management and Science University (Shah Alam), Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus (Subang Jaya), Nottingham University Malaysia Campus (Semenyih), International Medical University (Bukit Jalil), Monash University Malaysia (Sunway), UCSI University (Kuala Lumpur), Tunku Abdul Rahman University (Kampar) and University Putra Malaysia (Serdang).
The seminar was organised by the Biochemistery Club of the School of Biosciences and Biotechnology, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) with more than 300 students taking part.
Deputy Dean of FST, Prof Dr Maslina Darus said in her opening speech that such seminars are good platforms for scientific discourses which also provide opportunities for collaborative interactions among the participants.
It also gives opportunities to witness undergraduates as budding researchers sharing findings of their final year research projects with their peers.
The seminar also provides them the opportunity to seek out and make contact among their peers to prepare for their post-graduate studies. It may lead them to meet their potential supervisors and select their research niches, she said.
