BANGI, 28 Apr 2014 – Students of The National University of Malaysia (UKM) should be imbued with the spirit of its establishment which is unique when compared to other universities.
Its Vice Chancellor Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali said Malaysians place high hopes on UKM to be an institution of higher learning moulded on national aspirations to be able to contribute towards improving the wellbeing of the people.
Thus its graduates should be mindful of such aspirations, he said when opening a three day course for residential colleges Fellows at Dusun Eco Resort in Bentung recently.
He said the fellows carry with them the high responsibility of guiding the students to ensure activities they carried out meet such aspirations.
The students should be able to gauge the values imbued into them in the short space of between three to five years that they were in UKM.
Being in UKM they would understand such aspirations which is unique and special compared to what students at other universities would have experienced.
Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students and Alumni Affairs) Prof Datin Nor Aziah Mohd Awal and heads of the residential colleges were among those who attended the opening ceremony.
