Autism Charity Golf Collected RM 77,000

BANGI, 10 April 2012 – A total of 88 participants from 25 organisations and business entities took part in an autism charity golf at the Danau Golf Club of The National University of Malaysia (UKM) in the campus here last Sunday.
It managed to collect RM77,000 to help the Aurism Laboratory of the Education Faculty carry out its various programmes for the benefit of autistic students.
The golf game was organised by the Autism Learning Laboratory of the Faculty of Eduction UKM and its Head of Research, Dr Hasnah Toran with the cooperation of the UKM Sports Centre.
Among those taking part in the game were the Tunku Laxamana Tunku Dato’ Seri Utama Naquiyuddin ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Ja’afar; Puteri Jawahir ibni Al-Marhum Tuanku Ja’afar; Pro-Canselor UKM, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid who is also Adviser of the Autism Learning Laboratory.
Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Wira Dr Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin and her husband, Dato’ Dr Mahmud Md. Nor and a number of Vice Chancellors of various universities and a number of chief executive officers of various companies also took part.
President of Northport (Malaysia) Berhad, Tan Sri Wan Abdul Rahman Wan Yaacob and the Chief Executive Officer of Kontena Nasional, Hood bin Osman handed over donations of RM10,000 each to the laboratory.
A book titled Do You Know Autism? that was inspired by Vice Chairman of the Organising Committee, Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Hood Hj Salleh was presented at the function. It is a compilation of stories written by students of the laboratory and their parents.
An autistic student, Umar Hasfizal who has cut an album titled I Give the Best of Me entertained the guests rendering his songs while another student from the laboratory Ahmad Muaz Hamdani bin Hamad Hamdi offered the closing doa.
