BANGI, 27 April 2012 –Adherence to a healthy lifestyle by having a balanced diet, routinely exercising and having enough sleep is the key to success.
This was the advice given by Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Rosnah Haji Rashid Shirlin to university students apart from also having good communication skills if they want to succeed. She was officiating the Keris Mas College Award Night at the Chancellor Tun Abdul Razak hall here last weekend.
She referred to the National Health and Morbidity Study (NHMS 11) in 2006 which found that 43.7% of Malaysians above the age of 18 do not follow healthy living habits saying that students needed to be aware of the findings so that they would not be part of that statistics.
Datuk Rosnah said that although students nowadays were more aware of current issues which they culled from various sources including the internet, they also needed to be more discerning to ensure the information they accessed are correct.
She acknowledged that present day youths needed space and support for their voice to be heard and their role recognised.
She also presented prizes to Mohd Sollehuddin bin Ismail and Halimatus Saadiah binti Baharuddin, the College’s sportsman and sportswoman of the year at the dinner. They each received a trophy and cash of RM300. She also presented the College Principal’s special award to Muhammad Adham bin Abdul Mubin for his contributions to the College.
Present at the dinner were Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali; Director of the Alumni Affairs Office, Prof Dato’ Dr Laily bin Din and the Keris Mas College Principal, Dr Roslin bin Amir.
