BANGI, 23 Feb. 2012 – UKM Technology Sdn Bhd, the commercial arm of the National University of Malaysia (UKM) will be hosting a UKM Business Challenge Programme to search for its talented students to be groomed as future leaders in the business world.

It is collaborating with Yayasan Khazanah Malaysia (a foundation established by Khazanah Nasional Berhad) to select UKM students currently in the final year of any of the university’s Masters’ programme to participate in a strategic internship programme in selected areas.

The aim is to sharpen the students’ ability to become a strong and wise leader in the business world, UKM Tech said in a statement released to UKM News Portal today.

The programme is to be an avenue to match the young talents with experienced corporate professionals from industries for knowledge transfer and experience sharing.

The internship incorporates experiential learning with real business tasks and problems. They will have to come up with fresh ideas and innovative solutions. Apart from being a win-win situation for the students and the host companies, the programme is to:

-Equip students with the necessary skills and competencies needed in contemporary business workplace.

-Provide practical experiential learning at work to familiarise and handle real workplace issues.

-Enhance the students’  marketability and employability upon successful completion of the experiential learning and exposure.

-Strengthen University-industry relationship in research, teaching, training and consulting.

Those selected are expected to meet their Key Performance Index set by their host. Cash prizes will be awarded to deserving candidates.

UKM Tech said the programme is part of UKM’s efforts to nurture the spirit of entrepreneurship in future leaders and in line with national aspiration towards achieving high income economy by nurturing and developing new calibre of human capital with the leadership qualities and skill needed in the market.
