UKM Confers PhDs To 444 People – The Highest Number In Its History

BANGI, 25 Oct 2013 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) will confer PhD degrees to 444 people during its 41stconvocation beginning here tomorrow, the highest number in its history.
The recipients attended a robing ceremony today where their supervisors helped them to try out their robes. The feeling of confidence is obvious on their faces.
All their hard work and sacrifices has now paid off by them earning the title doctor and will henceforth be looked upon as credible experts in their fields to also assist in the development of the nation.
Vice Chancellor Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hasan Shahabudin in her brief speech said the robing ceremony signify the passing down of scholarly mind from their supervisors to them.
She reminded them the title they earned is not a privilege but a trust that must be handled with sincerity and care.
On their shoulder now rest the responsibility to work towards ensuring the wellbeing of society while helping to generate wealth for the country with their intellect.
This is the third year in succession that such robing ceremony was held for UKM’s PhD recipients. Faculty Deans, Directors of Institutes and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
