Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Advanced Energy Systems
INTRODUCTION
The researchers in the Heat Transfer and Fluid Flow in Advanced Energy Systems Group consist of mathematicians and engineers. This group’s main emphasis is in the field of partial differential equations and fractional differential equations that govern the evolution of convective flows. Specially the group specializes in analytical and numerical methods, such as Homotopy Method, Runge-Kutta Method, Finite Difference Method and Finite Volume Method.
The group has been involved in all stages of research projects, from mathematical modelling to the algorithm development for efficient large scale computations, and has included full mathematical and numerical analysis of the equation obtained. The possible application areas for the cross-cutting energy technologies are diverse, ranging from porous media to nanofluids, boundary layer, magnetohydrodynamics, internal heating, conjugate heat transfer and thin film, and last but not least, interesting phenomena of chaotic convection.
Promoting the modern and advanced methods in numerical simulations has always been the passion of this group. The group from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia is a leader in applying mathematics to problem in fluid mechanics and heat transfer as demonstrated by its key role in ISI High Impact Journals. Members of the group have won several awards for their academic contributions in fundamentalfluid mechanics and applied character of the heat transfer.
