Teknik yang sedia ada iaitu semburan kabut (fogging dan abate) dilihat tidak mampu menangani penyebaran penyakit ini, justeru pendekatan alternatif telah diadaptasi dalam buku ini untuk melihat sejauh mana masyarakat Malaysia di Lembah Klang menyokong akan pelaksanaan teknik pencegahan dan pengawalan alternatif iaitu perangkap autocidal, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bti), vaksin, dan nyamuk Aedes GM dalam menghapuskan vektor denggi iaitu nyamuk Aedes. Buku ini menerangkan sikap dan faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi masyarakat terhadap teknik pencegahan dan pengawalan denggi. Selain itu, ia juga bermanfaat untuk para penyelidik, pihak industri, pegawai-pegawai kerajaan dan badan sukarela, pihak media, pelajar dan masyarakat awam untuk memahami sikap terhadap pencegahan dan pengawalan denggi. Tanggapan dan pandangan masyarakat Malaysia terhadap pelaksanaan Teknik-teknik pencegahan dan pengawalan tersebut telah dijalankan, dan secara tidak langsung dapat menghebahkan dan mendidik masyarakat akan kewujudan teknik alternatif lain.

This book is the result of the collection and monitoring of studies on community behaviour regarding support for the implementation of dengue prevention and control techniques in the Klang Valley. Existing techniques such as fogging and abate are seen as insufficient to tackle the spread of the disease, hence alternative approaches have been adopted in this book to gauge the extent of support among the community in the Klang Valley for the implementation of alternative prevention and control techniques. These include autocidal traps, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), vaccines, and genetically modified (GM) Aedes mosquitoes in eradicating the dengue vector, the Aedes mosquito. This book explains the attitudes and factors influencing the community’s response to dengue prevention and control techniques. Additionally, it is beneficial for researchers, industry players, government officials, voluntary organisations, media personnel, students, and the general public to understand attitudes toward dengue prevention and control. The perceptions and views of the Malaysian community on the implementation of these prevention and control techniques have been explored, indirectly promoting and educating the public about the existence of alternative techniques.
