In PERMATApintar x F1 in Schools (PERMATApintar x F1iS), we encourage our members to explore all curriculum areas whilst designing, making testing and racing a miniature car powered by compressed air.
The project covers STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and many other areas of the National Curriculum, in an exciting classroom-based project aimed at primary & secondary school children. Either individually, or in groups of 3 or 6, pupils design, make and race a miniature racing car. Using an F1 model block for the car’s chassis, pupils then use their understanding of the science of speed to design an efficient bodyshell. After testing and modifying their designs, cars are finally raced down a 20-meter track powered by compressed air, in an exciting race, that engages the whole school.
There is also the opportunity to look at Formula 1 in a wider sense and explore geography, fitness, mental health and wellbeing, creative and persuasive writing, history, art and design, amongst other subjects.
