Requirements and Eligibility
➜ Registered as a full-time student at home university.
➜ Have completed at least two academic semesters at home university.
➜ CGPA score: minimum 3.0 / 4.0.
➜ TOEFL iBT: 79, TOEFL ITP: 550 or IELTS Band 6 or TEPS or DUOLINGO certificate
➜ Have good English proficiency in both speaking and writing.
➜ Must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of UKM or placement provider.
➜ Agrees to be responsible for the costs incurred.

Application Procedures
- Fill up the application form – Application For UKM Non-Graduate Programme.
- UKM Global will do application review and clarification.
- UKM Global will forward the application to the host faculty for their review and approval.
- The offer letter will be issued out by the UKM Academic Department after faculty’s approval.
Incoming students may refer to the www.ukm.my/pha/etc for the list of courses available.

Application for Visa Approval Letter (Mobility) - eVAL
Who Should Apply?
✎ Prospective international student under the exchange program, internship program or research attachment program.
✎ Attending a program at UKM with a minimum 3 months to maximum 12 months.
When Should You Apply?
✎ After receiving the Acceptance Letter from the UKM Global office or the Offer Letter from the UKM Academic Centre.
✎ The approval process period is taking about 4-8 weeks.
Where Should You Apply?
✎ Online system at the Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) website visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/customer/account/login/.
✎ Please refer to the e-VAL application guideline HERE.
✎ Prepare the following documents before filling out an online application for the smooth running of the application process:
Applicant Photo (size 35mm x 45mm) with WHITE background (Photo Guideline)
Copy of Offer Letter from UKM (two pages)
Confirmation Letter from Home University
Health Declaration form (HERE).
Copy of Passport (Validity of the passport must be at least 18 months to expiry date)
Please scan and upload the Passport Information page, the Observation Page (If it shows any extensions, clarifications of name, and previous passport numbers) and any pages which contain visa information. Please ensure that all required pages are scanned and uploaded as ONE PDF file. The maximum file size allowed by the system is 2000KB. Please be advised that students from Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen are required to submit a copy of all passport pages.
Important:
- All exchange students must enter Malaysia under a Student Pass (Mobility) and NOT A TOURIST / SOCIAL VISA.
- All students are NOT ALLOW to enter Malaysia during the e-VAL application process because it will cause the e-VAL application to be canceled by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM).
- Mobility Programme that under 3 months are not entitled to apply for Visa Approval Letter (e-VAL).
Accommodation
Exchange students are not guaranteed on-campus accommodation. All exchange students are eligible to apply for on-campus accommodation, although not guaranteed placement given the limited supply of accommodation at UKM.
UKM Global will assist in making the accommodation arrangement at the Ibu Zain Residential College (KIZ) only. It's located on the UKM Bangi campus (main campus). Students can choose either the following type of room:
1. Single Room : MYR 680.00 monthly.
2. Sharing Room (2 persons in 1 room) : MYR 490.00 monthly per person.
*Students are required to pay deposit of one month's rental fee plus the first month of a fee (1+1) during the day of check-in.
*For students that staying on campus will need to pay the College Activity Fee MYR 50.00 per semester.

Fill up the APPLICATION FORM and email it to exchange@ukm.edu.my after receiving the program acceptance letter from UKM Global.
Optionally, incoming students can stay at the other residential colleges on the UKM campus by sending application email directly to respective college management. Incoming students are also allowed to rent private – off-campus accommodation. However, students are required to make their own arrangements for both options.
Health and Travel Insurance
In compliance with the Malaysian Ministry of Education’s Code of Ethics, it is COMPULSORY for all international students to have medical insurance coverage throughout the period of study in Malaysia. Among the important things in the ministry’s guidelines are:
1. The minimum insurance premium is at least MYR 200.00 (Malaysian Ringgit) for 6 months.
2. Insurance must cover all of the following treatments:
- Personal Accident & Death;
- In-patient Services;
- Repatriation; and
- Outpatient Services.
A student will need to purchase health insurance through the EMGS system during the e-VAL application process. (https://visa.educationmalaysia.gov.my/guidelines/insurance.html).
Students are encouraged to purchase travel insurance from the airlines or any insurance company to ensure they are covered for their trip to Malaysia. Travel insurance is not included in the insurance offered by EMGS.
Plan Your Arrival
Students are advised to arrive in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in time for the official registration day at the UKM campus. UKM Global will arrange an airport pick-up service once in each semester depending on the availability of the university transportation.

- Students may fill up the Arrival Information Form for pickup arrangement after receiving approval for e-VAL and Single Entry Visa (SEV).
- Download and activate the MySejahtera apps (https://mysejahtera.malaysia.gov.my/intro_en/) on your mobile phone three(3) days before departure to Malaysia.
- The airport pickup is from the KLIA main terminal only to the UKM residential college in Bangi campus.
- Students that arrive outside the pickup service schedule, may make self-arrangements by the public transport services such as train, cab or GRAB directly to the accommodation.

Registration Process at UKM
UKM Global will organise a Briefing Session for new inbound students during a Registration day. UKM Global will also prepare UKM student buddy to all inbound students to assist in enjoy the experience with the atmosphere on campus.
Student Pass (Multiple Entry Visa)
As requirement to obtain the Student Pass (Multiple Entry Visa), student need to prepare a following documents and submit the hardcopy to the Pass and Visa Management Division, Centre for Academic Management upon arrival in Malaysia and after registration at UKM.

Review Requirements and Eligibility
The requirements and eligibility may vary depending on the regulations of the partner university. However, here are the criteria set by UKM Global:
➠ Registered as a full-time UKM student and enrolled in an undergraduate program.
➠ Completed at least one academic semesters at UKM.
➠ Minimum CGPA 3.0 over 4.0.
➠ Have a good English proficiency in both speaking and writing.
➠ Meet good academic standing as outlined in the current.
➠ Must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of UKM or host university.
➠ Agree to be responsible for the cost incurred.
Do Your Research
➠ Review the partner universities requirements for detailed information on exchange such as how to apply, courses available, academic calendar, previous records of exchange with UKM, funding and living costs.
➠ For exchange programmes involving credit transfer, obtain recommendations and support from the Head of Programme in your respective faculty.
➠ Calculate a budget to cover financial needs while participating in the program, such as currency exchange, visa requirements, flight tickets, accommodation, living expenses, and other related costs.
➠ Familiarise yourself with the country you will be visiting and understand its culture as an initial preparation.
How to apply?
STEP 1: Check for opportunities to participate in programmes by following the announcements on UKM Global's Instagram and Facebook pages.
STEP 2: Review the requirements set by the Host University and prepare the application documents.
STEP 3: Discuss with your Programme Coordinator/ Deputy Dean (Academic) on exchange pertaining to your degree requirement, your major, understanding your academic requirement for graduation purposes and credit transfer.
STEP 4: Complete and submit the Host University's application documents.
STEP 5: Get the Offer Letter from the Host University.
STEP 6: Apply for approval to go abroad via ‘Sistem Integrasi Pengurusan Bakat, Aktiviti dan Resume Pelajar (iSTAR)’ through https://istar.ukm.my.
STEP 7: Preparations to go abroad and attend the course at the Host University.
STEP 8: For the semester exchange program, inform the UKM Academic to update the enrollment status into 'Mendaftar Mobiliti'.
STEP 9: Complete the course at the Host University and apply for credit transfer at home faculty in UKM after return.
Passports and Visas
➠ Ensure that students possess a valid passport. If you do not have a passport, please apply immediately.
➠ Ensure that the passport is valid for at least 6 months after returning to Malaysia following the completion of the program. If the duration is insufficient, it is recommended that you apply for a passport renewal as soon as possible.
➠ If the mobility programme to be participated in is a long-term programme, students need to check the visa requirements for that country. Contact your Host Program Coordinator to find out about the visa requirements.
Health Condition and Insurance
Health Condition: It is important for your well-being that this information is disclosed to the home and host universities in case of emergencies. This is to assists students with routine or chronic health conditions on managing their condition(s) abroad. Being in a foreign country, with possibly a drastic change of environment; might lead to stress factors regarding culture and language, consequently exacerbating symptoms. Hence, by letting the authorities aware of your health conditions, they can assist in getting the right treatment and medication you need.
Health Insurance: Students going abroad to study are required to obtain a health insurance. However, the choice of which health insurance is up to personal preference. Outside scholarships and funding: You are encouraged to apply for study abroad scholarships from a variety of sources, including your study abroad programs and also outside organizations.
Billing and Payment
➠ The compulsory ones would be application, registration, and accommodation fees.
➠ Budgeting and Sustainability Abroad.
➠ The amount of money you spend when studying abroad heavily depends on personal spending habits, the exchange rate, the economy, and the cost of living in your host country. You should do a background check on these factors and estimate the budget for food and transportation.
Pre-Departure Briefing
Student are required to attend UKM Global Exchange Program Pre-Departure Session. It’s Mandatory and failure to do so will affect your funding disbursement.

Tips: Don’t do it at the very last minute! Processing time might take a while, so don’t put yourself in that situation and let yourself lose on a golden opportunity.
What is the Student Ambassador Programme?
The Student Ambassador Programme, established by the UKM International Relations Centre (UKM Global) together with Exchange@UKM participants; is an effort to enhance the exchange experience for incoming, outgoing, and returning exchange students.
UKM Global, together with our Student Ambassadors, create platforms for incoming, outgoing, and returning exchange students to interact whilst offering tailored services which cater to their specific needs.
Who are they?
Our community of Student Ambassador consists of UKM students who have recently returned from their exchange, and are passionate to share more about their experiences. They are more than happy to assist their juniors with their own exchange journeys!
What does a Student Ambassador do?
➠ Assist in the process of registration for inbound exchange students.
➠ Conduct campus tours for new students, schools, classes, and guests.
➠ Facilitate events and activities for the integration of incoming exchange students to UKM campus life.
➠ Ease the preparation process for UKM students who will be going for and returning from their exchange.

Outbound Mobility Funds
UKM Global offers the Student Outbound Mobility Fund which provides financial support to students to expand their UKM experience with academic programs and opportunities offered outside Malaysia. The allocation of this fund will be through the UKM Student Mobility Fund Committee and grants for qualified students to participate in exchange programmes and attach themselves to industries in foreign universities, laboratories and companies.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENT:
☑ Malaysian citizenship.
☑ Registered as a full-time UKM student.
☑ Enrolled in an undergraduate programme.
☑ Completed at least one academic semester in UKM.
☑ Minimum CGPA 3.0 over 4.0.
☑ Has obtained faculty approval to participate in the mobility programme.
☑ The duration of the programme is a minimum of 3 weeks (21 days, including the dates of departure and return) and a maximum of 2 semesters only.
☑ Students can receive this mobility fund only once throughout the duration of their studies at UKM.
☑ Applications for the student mobility fund received after the programme ended will not be considered.
