Overview
The course on Indigenous Communities introduces and provides you with selected topics based on continuity and change of culture of indigenous communities in Malaysia. Participant learn about the unique culture, the minority struggles, the process of cultural transformation and the future of indigenous communities in Malaysia. The course offers a total of four credits hour and participants will receive a certificate and academic transcript upon completion of the programme.
Objectives

Introduce participants to the study of the unique cultures of indigenous communities in Malaysia.

Enable participants to understand the communities' history and the process of cultural adaptation and transformation.

Allow participants to gain first-hand experience and document visuals of various cultural elements of indigenous communities.
WEEK 1
Lecture series on multiculturalism in Malaysia, socio culture, economic, ethnograph of indigenous people, the native of Sabah and Sarawak and cultural relativity and sensitivity.
WEEK 2
Group activities on understanding indigenous community, community outreach and experiential learning to selected indigenous community.
WEEK 3
Experiential learning to selected indigenous community.

Requirements and Eligibility
- Registered as a full-time student at home university.
- Have completed at least two academic semesters at home university.
- Have good English proficiency in both speaking and writing.
- Must agree to abide by the rules and regulations of UKM or placement provider.
- Agrees to be responsible for the costs incurred.
Application Procedures
- Contact your home International Office for internal selection.
- Nomination Form must be submitted by your respective home university.
- UKM will send application instructions to the nominated students.
- Final results will be notified to home university and selected students.
