Another successful Geopark workshop organized by LADA was held at Langkawi Island starting from 8th to 12th May 2017. The opening ceremony was graced by Tunku Temenggung Kedah, The Royal Patron of Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah.

The Key Speakers for this workshop were Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Ibrahim Komoo from Asia Pacific Geopark Network, Dr Mahito Watanabe – Japanese Geoparks Network and Dr Jiangping from Chinese Geoparks Network.

The aim of this workshop is to boost and enhance connectivity of GGN members, to share experiences, challenges, and best practices for sustainable management of the Geopark, to disseminate and exchange ideas and knowledge on the concept of sustainable development and also to promote better understanding on concept of GGN networking in this region. The content of this workshop was successfully delivered through lectures by GGN Experts, sharing, discussion and presentation during workshop and field discussion.
