WHAT IS COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY?

Counselling psychology focuses on providing therapeutic treatments to clients who experience a wide variety of symptoms. It is also one of the largest specialty areas within psychology. They work with many types of individual, including those experiencing distress and difficulties associated with life events and transitions, decision making, work/career/education, family, social relationships, mental health and physical health concerns.

THE PROGRAM

Counseling Psychology program is designed to provide students with a foundation in theories and methods of counseling psychology with hands-on, practical, supervised training in counseling psychology techniques. At Master level, students provide to deliver therapeutic services to individuals and groups when they are experiencing psychological problems. As you work to complete your Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology, you will study applicable regulations, child and adolescent therapy, counseling theory, ethical standards, group therapy, marital and family therapy, patient/counselor relationships, testing and assessment methods and procedures and therapeutic intervention strategies. You will also have the opportunity to gain valuable experience through supervised counseling practice.
