Geology is the science of the earth, including its origin, content, history, features and structure of the earth, as well as the processes it undergoes. Geology students are empowered with the skills to recognize minerals, rocks, and fossils, and are very adept at producing geological maps. These skills are very important as a geologist, whose main task involves the exploration of earth’s resources (precious metals and base metals, ground water, fossil fuels-oil, gas and coal), as well as in the monitoring and management of geodisasters (earthquakes, landslides, volcanic activity, flooding, and sea level change). This course is delivered through lectures, practicals, field work, research, and industrial training.
