Synopsis
This workshop will introduce you to Mendeley, which is a reference management tool that enables you to manage citations and PDFs using a desktop client or through your account on Mendeley web. Mendeley also includes plug-ins for Word or OpenOffice, so you can easily create citations and/or bibliographies as you write. It also allows you to organize your research, collaborate with others online and discover the latest research. Outcomes of this workshop, participants are expected to know;

  • How to get Mendeley working on your computer and smart phone?
  • How to add and manage research papers in your Mendeley Library?
  • How to import references and add associated paper to your library?
  • How to highlight and take notes? How to use searchable notes?
  • How to cite and create bibliographies while you write?
  • How to collaborate with other researchers and how to discover new research?

Biodata of the Speaker:
Dr. Darman Nordin is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment (FKAB), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He received his Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Newcastle University, UK in 2012 upon completion of his dissertation “Interaction of the extracellular matrix protein fibronectin with model cell membranes.” He earned his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from UKM in 2005 where he also received UKM’s Anugerah Pelajaran Diraja. Currently, he is a Coordinator of Industrial Training, Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, UKM. He teaches Biomaterial Engineering, Separation Processes I, Advanced Thermodynamics and Computer Aided Biochemical and Chemical Engineering Design. His research interest includes biomaterial, separation process and engineering education.
