SEMINAR ON HOTS IN THE CONTEXT OF 21ST CENTURY LEARNING

Higher-order thinking (HOT) is a multi-purpose tool and it can be applied in the develop.m.ent of quality minds a.m.ong educators, learners, researchers, academicians and laymen. As educators we need to infuse or integrate critical and creative thinking into content instructions so that learning becomes meaningful for the learners. As learners and researchers (including postgraduate students) we need originality and creative ideas to advance the state of the art so that significant contribution to the intellectual develop.m.ent of society could be achieved .Academicians need HOTS to imptove on their research and pedagogy so that students acquire creativity and innovatve ideas from the process of learning and teaching. In short, everyone needs HOT not just to improve the quality of education but also to impove the quality of one’s life through skillfuf decision making and problem solving.

The one day seminar is aimed at helping participants to view various pedagogical approaches such as problem solving, thinking-based learning and thinking routines so that teaching, ways of thinking and learning will align very well with 21st century learning.

The seminar is very unique in the sense that it serves the purpose of elevating the quality of teaching and learning as well as the application of HOTS in real life situation.

This is the second part of the seminar conducted earlier. The seminar is relevant for both participants who had attended the first seminar and for those who will be attending the seminar for the first time as there will be a review of what had been discussed in the first seminar.
