Community Social Responsibility

Community service is community work that is carried out in groups and has specific goals and objectives. Community work is to relieve the burden, benefit, and well-being of a particular community. This activity is highly recommended as a group and periodically to make a positive impact on the receiving community. Community service is a very important activity to foster goodwill between the community and SMEs

PROGRAMME'S OBJECTIVE

  1. Cultivate feelings of empathy and concern for the surrounding community.
  2. Apply civic knowledge, skills and practices to the individual.
  3. Contribute in the form of energy, knowledge and skills.
  4. Build personalities and understand the concept of cooperation and help one another.
  5. Cultivate a spirit of coexistence in a community regardless of religion, race, creed and ideology.
  6. Become a patriotic citizen, caring and responsible to the community and the country.
  7. Adopting a healthy lifestyle and the practice of helping others in need.

PROGRAM ACTIVITIES

Each member of the Medical Faculty is encouraged to participate in community service program activities at least once a year. Community service programs can be created at the department, unit, or small group level.
 
Examples of the activities members can do:
  1. Communal work by cleaning the surrounding area
  2. Painting and repairing buildings / equipment
  3. Conduct friendly activities and donations at Orphanage and Parent’s Home
  4. Participate in disaster relief missions
  5. Free health screening programs, counseling, health fairs and lectures

Organizers are encouraged to run programs with external parties such as NGOs, government agencies, and the private sector so that activities can be undertaken at a large scale and impact the community.

APPLICATION FOR THE CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSILITY PROGRAMME

Community service programs run in the name of the Faculty of Medicine must obtain management approval first. The co-ordination of this community program is under the portfolio of the Secretariat Network and Income Generation.


The process of applying for a community service program:

  1. Fill out the application through the e-Network system at the link http://ejaringan.ppukm.ukm.my
  2. Complete online application form (with attachments / full proposal papers and related documents) must be completed before presenting a program related to industry, community, NGOs and schools to the Deputy Dean (Networking and Funding).
  3. The Office of the Deputy Dean (Networking and Funding) will review the online application form to identify the PTJ involved, the appropriateness of the program and to avoid overlapping of activities.
  4. The organization of large-scale programs will be brought for approval at the Faculty Management Meeting.
  5. Requests must be submitted at least 3 weeks in advance of the program. While applying for a program abroad at least 2 months before the program date.
  6. Approved applications will be notified via e-Jaringan system.
  7. Activities can be carried out in accordance with procedures approved by the Faculty management.
  8. The program leader / organizer needs to:
    1. Receive feedback from program participants and enter their feedback information online into the e-mail system within 2 weeks after the event. (FEEDBACK FORM)
    2. Insert activity reports (along with activity pictures) online into your web site within 2 weeks after the event.
    3. Include information and program members involved in the e-Services system no later than 2 weeks after the event

e-Khidmat

The organization of a community service program entitles the staff involved to obtain e-Services scores for the SPPU. This e-Service can be registered upon completion of a program.

  • Volunteer program (ex: gotong-royong) – AJK and participants are eligible for e-Services
  • Awareness program (ex: charity run / heart health talk) – Only CMS eligible for e-Services, participants eligible for eSPeL.
