YSN-ASM Chrysalis Award

The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) through the Young Scientists Network-ASM (YSN-ASM) has successfully organised the YSN-ASM Chrysalis Award for the successive 3 years since 2020. Chrysalis Award aims to recognize and build the talents of promising future researchers in Malaysia and to inspire the young generation of scientists to contribute back to society. This YSN-ASM Chrysalis Award is focusing to empower young scientists to be responsive, adaptive, and collaborative in aligning with the Science, Technology, Innovation (STI) outlook of Malaysia. The theme for Chrysalis Award 2023 is ‘Leaders of Tomorrow: Unleashing the Innovation Mindset of Young Researchers’.

Fifteen young scientists will be selected as Chrysalis Award Finalists, and they will be developed through a leadership programme and training modules that will be held from April to October 2023. These finalists will be challenged to present their research ideas and the 3 main winners will be selected based on their outstanding demonstration of knowledge, enthusiasm, leadership, creativity, teamwork, presentation skills and performance throughout the workshops.

In relation to this, please be informed that the Chrysalis Award is now open for application for 2023. The applicants should be a Malaysian final year PhD and aged below 35 years old on the 1st January 2023. The applicant is required to fill in the application through an online form (https://bit.ly/ChrysalisAward2023and submits the following documents by 14 April 2023:

 i)                    Latest curriculum vitae with passport-size photo;

ii)                  200 words motivational essay;

iii)                A4-sized research poster (Softcopy: PNG, TIFF format) and;

iv)                Supporting documents (Support letter from the main supervisor, article indexing on Web of Science and Journal ranking from Journal Citation Report (JCR) or Scopus, copy of articles, supporting documents such as certificates or letters)
