December 18th became one of the tragedies when Malaysia was hit by a flood disaster that has caused several deaths and tens of thousands of people who became victims and had to be moved to a temporary placement center (PPS). The Klang Valley area was badly affected by this natural disaster. This massive flood caused highways around the Klang Valley to be affected and much of the infrastructure damaged.
There are UKM staff and students who are also victims of flood disaster. Therefore, UKM Management takes serious care and the UKM Medical Faculty has mobilized volunteers to help ease the burden of flood victims. The Department of Emergency Medicine headed by Dr. Alias Mahmud along with several students and staff carried out a residential cleaning operation to ease their burden in Langat which was also affected.
