STRENGTHENING BILATERAL TIES IN MEDICAL EDUCATION: UKM FACULTY OF MEDICINE VISITS MALDIVES EMBASSY
KUALA LUMPUR, 19th December 2024. The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), recently conducted a Courtesy Visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Maldives to discuss strengthening bilateral collaboration in medical education. Representing the Faculty of
Medicine was Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima Che Hamzah, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies, while the Maldives Embassy was represented by Dr. Mariyam Shabeena Ahmed, High Commissioner-Designate.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for cooperation between UKM’s Faculty of Medicine and the National University of Maldives (NUM). Discussions revolved around enhancing academic exchange programs, curriculum development, and joint initiatives to advance medical training and education. Both parties expressed their shared commitment to fostering a robust partnership to benefit students and the broader medical community in both nations.
Associate Professor Dr. Jemaima emphasized UKM’s dedication to promoting global medical education standards, while Dr. Mariyam Shabeena highlighted the Maldives’ interest in leveraging UKM’s expertise to bolster its healthcare sector. The visit marks a significant step towards creating impactful academic alliances, aiming to elevate the quality of medical education and healthcare outcomes in Malaysia and the Maldives.
