Professor Dr Mohamad Nasir holds qualification of MD (UKM), MOG (UKM), MRCOG (London, UK), FICS (USA), Ph.D (Nottingham, UK) and is presently a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Head of Gynaeoncology Division in UKM Medical Centre, since 2015. The Gynaeoncology Division is established since1997, following the completion of UKM Medical Centre building, which previously utilized General Hospital Kuala Lumpur as clinical training centre for UKM.
The team is actively involved in translational research involving gynaecological cancer, as well as discovery biomarkers in cancer prevention and prediction. Collaborative work with other renowned national and international centres such as Subspeciality Training Division Ministry of Health Malaysia, University of Hassanuddin, Indonesia, University of Nottingham United Kingdom and British Columbia Cancer Agency, Vancouver, has enabled them to progress and meet the standard of oncology training, as well as high impact research. This centre is nationally recognized as a training centre of Gynaeoncology Subspecialty. Other than providing clinical training, the team is also supervising Masters and Doctorate students, who have strong interest in this challenging field.
Professor M N Shafiee and his team are continuously receiving research funding from various agencies including government and industry. He was conferred FIGO Fellowship Award in Gynaecologic Oncology International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 2015, and Korean Young Gynaecology Oncology Award, 2017. He is also presently the committee board in the Malaysia Gynaeoncology Society.
