Eligibility:
Independent and Certified Public Health Physician (Malaysian) OR has completed a recognized public health specialist training (for overseas candidates) with an interest in the area of aging and public health An applicant who has completed attachment in any facilities that cover the 10 areas of Family Health (Annex 1) is highly encouraged and will be prioritized (Malaysian candidate) OR has working experience in managing family health-related programs after specialist training for a minimum of 3 years (non-Malaysian candidate). Required to submit a current resume with two referees.
Required to submit a standing letter from the employer/institution for the program application.
Objectives of the Programme:
By the end of the program, the candidate should be able to:
1. Diagnose the aging population’s health needs and plan strategic problem-solving activities with various input from other public health and medical specialties.
2. Ability to develop an activity conforming to, international standards and ensuring healthy public policies, equity, and accessibility with the most appropriate technology.
3. Demonstrate evidence-based decision-making, critical thinking, self-directed life-long learning, and evidence-based practice.
4. Exhibit effective communication, professionalism, leadership, and sensitivity towards ethical, religious, and cultural values.
Activities/Task:
1. Conduct an assessment for an established community intervention approach for the improvement of the aging population’s health
2. Collaborate with aging experts related to multidisciplinary professionals and agencies in proposing framework analysis for problem-solving for aging population health priorities and its justification.
3. Active participation in supervision training, scientific seminar discussion, or journal appraisal at the department.
4. Record experience activities in the student-led customized logbook.
5. Schedule meetings with the supervisor during the fellowship program for progress monitoring.
Publish at least 1 technical report/policy paper / 1 article accepted in the WOS journal.
Certificate of completion of training certified by the Course Director and Dean, Faculty of Medicine UKM will be given to all successful candidates. Important requirements:
1. Please apply at least 6 months before the intended start date.
2. If you are a non-Malaysian citizen student, you will need a Temporary Practising Certificate (TPC) from the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Please ensure you fulfil all the requirements for TPC. https://mmc.gov.my/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/TPC_July_2019_2.pdf
3. Application for TPC will be forwarded to MMC by UKM except for Letter of Good Standing.
