Associate Professor Dr Petrick Periyasamy is a Clinical Physician and Consultant in Infectious Diseases at UKM Medical Centre. He is currently the head of infectious diseases in UKMMC.
He is passionate in antimicrobial stewardship and is actively involved in the local and national level .
He has contributed to National Guidelines and/or as an External Reviewer for the National Adult Immunisation Guidelines, National Antibiotics Guidelines of Ministry of Health , Malaysian Consensus Guidelines on Antiretroviral Therapy , National policies and Procedures on Infection Control, Management of Dengue Infections in Adults and Management of Tuberculosis among others.
He is a member of the Malaysian Society for HIV Medicine and the Malaysia Society of Infection Control and Infectious Diseases.
Apart from clinical practice, teaching and administrative duties, he is also involved in research mainly in the field of general infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship in UKMMC and has published in this area . He has collaborated with other universities such as UPM, USIM and UM .
The infectious disease unit trains (ministry of health and universities) fellows , medical officers and family medicine doctors in the infectious disease subspecialty program.
