Professor (Dr) Amaramalar Selvi Naicker is a consultant Rehabilitation Medicine Physician from Faculty of Medicine, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). She has been working in PPUKM since 2003 within the Dept of Orthopedics & Traumatology . She has actively been involved in clinical work in several areas of rehabilitation like Spinal cord injury, Brain injury  and Musculoskeletal  rehabilitation to name a few.  She has a special interest in the Peadiatric Rehabilitation and had her clinical attachment at the Royal Northshore hospital in Sydney  in 2007 and has since worked to co-ordinate and involve her team in a several multidisciplinary clinics such as the Joint Cerebral Palsy clinic and the Spina bifida clinic as well as individualized care for other related peadiatric disorders such as limb deficiencies, spinal cord injury,  brain injury, cancer ,pain etc to provide comprehensive care to children with multiple functional impairments through procedures such as Botulinium toxin injections , therapy, orthotic and prosthetic management and more recently  Baclofen pump refills and programming service.

She is also a passionate teacher and enjoys teaching both basic sciences and clinical medicine . Her research includes work done on various areas of rehabilitation as well as tissue engineering. Her publications span over peer reviewed journals, chapters in books as well as public health articles and booklets. As rehabilitation involves community extension of medical care she  continues her  work in  society with several community groups  and is the Co- founder and Vice president of Spina bifida association of Malaysia (SiBIAM)  ,an organization for children with developmental spinal problems.

 Her interest are not just limited to people with disabilities but also to animals in similar situations too. She helps out at a local elephant conservatory to aid in prosthetic restoration for elephants who have undergone amputations due to being trapped in poachers snares.

Since 2015, she has actively participated in Mercy Malaysia’s work with post disaster medical rehabilitation and capacity building in Nepal and has helped to bring together a team of rehab professionals interested in disaster rehabilitation to participate in Mercy Malaysia’s activities.

More recently has been actively involved in WHO initiative for Rehabilitation capacity building in lower income countries which is a project in collaboration with the International society for Physical Rehabilitation and Medicine  (ISPRM) .

*First medical degree needs to be checked whether it is recognised by Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) (a mandatory requirement if the candidate will do rotation outside of HCTM) An offer letter will be issued (by UKMSHAPE) to the candidate for the payment process Course Director

Application will be reviewed by the Course Director

  • Fill in and submit Application Form to International Affairs Unit (UPA)
  • Letter of Temporary Approval/ Letter of Rejection to applicants will be issued by SPS
  • For the accepted candidates, a copy of the Temporary Approval Letter will be sent to UKM Shape – for VISA’s application process

Accepted candidates are required to complete the following documents:

  • *Since Covid-19 pandemic, Malaysian Immigration will only issued Professional Visit Pass (PVP) with Single Entry Visa for 1 Year. Candidate must go out from Malaysia before PVP expired and must re-apply new PVP from home country for next year's programme
    *All documents will be sent through the International Affairs Unit, Faculty of Medicine UKM
Step 5
Candidate enrolled and report to the Course Director
Step 6
An offer letter will be issued (by UKM Shape) to the candidate for the payment process
Step 7
Course Director will notify the candidate about privileging and credentialing to HCTM Credentialing Link
Step 8
ONE (1) month before programme ends, the Course Director are required to inform SPS and International Affairs Unit, Faculty of Medicine UKM
Finish
SPS will issue Certificate of Completion to the candidate

DEFINITION

Credentialing: a process to set the standards and to do an evaluation for a person’s qualification in a field or procedure. It is recognition for the professional training done by a medical practitioner.

Privileges: the rights given by the hospital for a medical practitioner to give treatments or to do procedures on hospital patients based on the qualifications of the training, and the medical practitioner’s experience and expertise.

* If you want to renew you application, please apply 6 months BEFORE your expiry date.

Click Credentialing Form and complete all the required information.

*You need to fill in your Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) Registration Number, Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) Number and National Specialist Register (NSR) Number in the prerequisite field.
Step 4
Select Head of Department (HOD) to verify your application.
Step 5
Tick (√) and submit your application.
Step 6
Your Dashboard for the application status will appear. You can check the ongoing status by time to time.
Step 7
All applications will be reviewed in a meeting.

*The meeting will be conducted 4 times a year

HCTM issue an Approval Letter (TWO weeks after the meeting)

HCTM issue Certificate of Credentialing (ONE month after)
