Dr. Mohd Rizal Abdul Manaf is a Professor and Public Health Consultant in the Department of Community Health, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He graduated with Medical Doctor Degree from UKM in 1994 and Master of Community Health (Hospital and Health Management) from UKM in 2001 and subsequently attained Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health in 2009.
He was appointed as one of the committee members in reviewing health care reform and 1Care Technical Committee of Ministry of Health Malaysia at the National Level. He was also involved in the Fairness of Financial Contribution committee of Ministry of Health Malaysia. His main areas of research are health economics and quality of life. He is involved in a number of studies on public health in Malaysia. These include understanding risks factors, prevalence and elements of trajectories among adolescent involved in poly-drugs and ATS abuse at selected hot spots in Malaysia, diagnostic study on development of integrated and sustainable long-term care for elderly in Malaysia, profile of non-communicable disease risk factors among Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia staff and effectiveness of Slim Shape intervention program. He is a member of Public Health Specialist Association of Malaysia. He is an editor of International Public Health Research Journal and also served as reviewer for PLOS One Journal, Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences, Medical Journal of Malaysia and Community Health Journal. He had published numerous articles in local as well as international peer-reviewed journals.
