Introduction

Master of Community Health Science with a specialization in Occupational Health is one of the academic post-graduate degrees that are sought after by health practitioners in the community. The knowledge and skills acquired through this academic program prepare its graduates for the task and challenges of practicing occupational health at both national and international levels. The competency of the graduates from this program has been reflected by their successful appointments in industries, government agencies, and academia.

Registration of courses

    • Compulsory registration
      Students must register for all compulsory courses in all semesters.
    • Elective registration
      Students may register for elective courses which are not compulsory OH courses in MCHS (OH) or in other fields which is not the core in their specialization but is offered by the department. The selected courses should be approved by the supervisor.

Workload

    • Workload for course work
      A student needs to fulfill at least 41 units to obtain the master’s degree.
No. Entry Requirement
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Pure Science, applied science, or professionals from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); OR;
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Pure Science applied science, or professionals from other universities that are recognized by the Senate of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); OR;
3. Those with Bachelor’s Degrees in other fields of studies will be considered for enrolment if they have work experience relevant to the specialization; AND;
4. Local and international candidates must apply through the Centre for Academic Management UKM and the Centre for Educational Extension, UKM respectively; AND;
5. Candidates screened for acceptance into the program must possess a CGPA of 3.00 and above (or equivalent) from recognized universities or experience deemed fit for admission into the program; AND;
6. International candidates must also submit proof of proficiency in spoken and written English. An eligible candidate must have IELTS ≥ Band 6.0 or MUET ≥ Band 4 or TOEFL iBT ≥ 60 or TOEFL pBT ≥ 498 or Pearson Test of English ≥ 59 or Cambridge English Qualifications and Test ≥ 169 (with proof) taken within the last two years before application; AND;
7. Must also show proof of good financial standing for the entire period of the course. Candidates must have their own medical protection and health insurance policy cover. Candidates must pass a pre-entry interview at the department level.
