Phd Entry Requirement
Requirements for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy programme (RESEARCH only):
- i. Bachelor’s Degree with Honors and have a CGPA of 3.67 and above from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate; OR
- ii. Master’s Degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia or equivalent from any institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate.

II. International candidates who DO NOT meet the English language competency requirements may be given the following CONDITIONAL OFFERS:
Students are allowed to attend the internal English Preparatory Course at UKM with a maximum period of two (2) years, but students are still subject to the regulations of the Immigration Department of Malaysian which is in force; AND
International students who take the Internal English Preparation Course must sit for the TOEFL, IELTS, MUET, Pearson Test of English, Cambridge English Qualifications and Test, Cambridge English Placement Test (CEPT), Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP), English Language Company (ELC), or International English Language Centre (IELC) to meet the English Language competency requirements as stated above.
International candidates originating from a country that uses English as the OFFICIAL LANGUAGE or who have academic qualifications obtained from any institution of higher learning that uses English as the MEDIUM of instruction may be fully exempted from the English language requirement.
