Higher Education Institutions Quality Management Council meeting  (MPQ-IPTA)

Its first meeting was held on October 4, 2011 and UKM Centre of Quality Assurance,  the university that  proposed the meeting of heads of quality management from 20 universities was selected to be the Secretariate ; and the Director of Centre of Quality Assurance (CQA), Prof. Ir. Dr. Shahrir Abdullah was appointed as the Chairperson for the period of 2012-2013. The first meeting  has developed the  MPQ-university Terms of Reference  as follows:

  1. To provide a platform for the representatives of public universities to share matters regarding the  quality of management and academic.
  2. To provide a platform for the representatives of public universities to  share the best practices of quality management.
  3. To provide a platform for the representatives of public universities to design activities related to the quality for mutual interest.
  4. To be the official body representing the public universities that serves as a bridge between local and foreign quality bodies with the university management.

 

The second MPQ-public universities meeting  No. 1/2012 was held on 28 February 2012 at Johor Bharu in line with the approval of the previous meeting to make UTM as the host. The meeting was attended by 95% of members appointed by the Vice Chancellor of each university and some of the matters which have been agreed are as follows:

  1. MPQ-public universities is to establish quality management guidelines that include the best quality management structure and at the same time, be a guide and reference to other HEIs for quality management at the University.
  2. MPQ-public universities hold seminars or workshops on quality management by inviting participants/ speakers from local and foreign institutions of higher learning and at the same time it can provide an opportunity to assess the best practices in quality management of the University.
  3. MPQ-public universities conduct researches related to quality management in universities and other government agenda.
  4. MPQ-public universities hold a meeting with the Director General, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Higher Education to discuss several issues related to quality management in universities.

 

MPQ-public universities meeting is expected to be a platform for sharing quality practices among public universities so that the scope of the quality can be improved from time to time and the combined voices of the public universities in matters related to quality are brought to quality bodies such as the MQA, SIRIM, MAMPU and the Department of Higher Education (JPT).
