SUPPORTING LABORATORIES
OPEN ROOF VENTILATION GREEN HOUSE
The Carbon Capture Laboratory is well equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities. It has an algae culture room for maintaining the native algal species that have been successfully isolated and purified. The laboratory is also equipped with photobioreactor and raceway pond at various working volumes. In addition, a system for clarifying industrial effluent based on integrated CO2 sequestration and phycoremediation using microalgae has been fabricated based on a patent that has been filed with Intelectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). Other facilities that are available at the laboratory are table top centrifuge, large volume centrifuge, bag filter, flocculation column, air mixer, laminar air flow and microscopes.
This laboratory development is funded by UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainable Development: Zero Waste Technology, UKM-YSD Chair in Climate Change research grant, LRGS, PRGS, FRGS, Geran Arus Perdana UKM, Geran Industri, and the private sector. This laboratory is led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Sobri Takriff (Manager of UKM-YSD Chair for Sustainable Development: Zero Waste Technology).
