UMBI Research Update Series (RUS) No.1/2024

5 January 2024 | Congratulations to Ms. Nurul Humaira Mohd Redzuan and Dr. Khairul Anwar Zarkasi, two outstanding UMBI students, on their exemplary final presentations in UMBI Research Update Series (RUS) No.1/2024 earlier this morning.

Ms. Humaira, a dedicated MSc candidate, presented a compelling topic on ‘Genome Wide Association Study of LDL in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Multiethnic Malaysian Cohort’, while Dr. Khairul, a PhD. candidate, shared insights on the intriguing subject of ‘Gene-gene and Gene-environment Interaction in Type 2 Diabetic with Coronary Heart Disease-related Deaths among The Malaysian Cohort Participants’. Their presentations were thoughtfully summarized by Professor Datuk Dr. A Rahman A Jamal, their esteemed main supervisor. Also in attendance, Dr. Kok Jun Liew from Codon Genomics Sdn Bhd, representing the industry and underscoring the real-world impact of their research.

Notably, both Dr. Khairul and Ms. Humaira have secured remarkable achievements, earning the 1st and 2nd place respectively for Best Oral Presentation Awards at the Diabetes Asia Conference 2023, held on 12 – 14 October 2023 organized by the National Diabetes Institute (NADI).

As they progress to the thesis writing and viva presentation phase, we extend our heartfelt best wishes to Dr. Khairul and Ms. Humaira for a successful journey ahead. May they continue to exemplify excellence and complete their studies with flying colors.
