The Quality Management team successfully organized an ISO/IEC 17025 workshop for the Nutrition Research and Development Division, Food and Nutrition Research Institute, Philippines, from 28th March to 6th April 2017. The course covers several aspects of ISO/IEC 17025, including method validation, measurement uncertainty and quality assurance program; it comprises 5 modules with 64 hours of lectures, hands-on sessions and discussion in total. The objectives of this course were to provide an understanding of laboratory accreditation requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 certification standards, and also to share the best practices from UMBI’s ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory. We shared our best practices on the ISO/IEC 17025 requirements and provided in-depth training on solving problem-based examples which fit to the Filipino team’s institution needs in applying for this accreditation. We received good feedback from the participants and it was an enjoyable learning experience for all.
