Workshop: Cell Migration & Invasion Assay 2017

From 14th to 16th of March, 2017, UMBI, in association with Biomarketing Services, Essen Bioscience and Corning held a “Cell Invasion & Migration Assay Workshop”. We received participants from all over Malaysia, namely Universiti Putra Malaysia, MPOB Bangi, IIUM Kuantan, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Terengganu. The workshop started with a series of lectures by our invited speakers. Firstly, Dr. Lisa Guan, from Corning Asia Pacific based in Shanghai gave a talk regarding all the assays that can be done using Corning materials such as 3D Spheroid Formation and Cell Invasion/Migration assays. This was followed by a lecture by Dr. Melissa from Essen Bioscience Australia about the Incucyte Live Cell Analysis System and its applications. After the lecture, the participants then proceeded for the hands-on experiment in our cell culture lab. Day 2 and Day 3 of the workshop were spent for hands-on application as well as data analysis for the cell invasion, cell migration and spheroid formation experiments. Overall, the workshop was a success and UMBI would like to thank the participants and especially the speakers who came all the way from China and Australia. We also would like to thank Biomarketing Services for their cooperation and hopefully we can organize more similar workshops together in the future!
