Congratulations to Siti Aisyah Abdul Razak!!

We would like to congratulate Siti Aisyah Abdul Razak, our MSc student for winning the 1^st prize of the Laboratory Abstract (Poster Presentation) during the 14^th Malaysian Society of Haematology Annual Scientific Meeting in Johor Bahru from 20^th – 22^nd April 2017. The title of her abstract was “Genetic Modifiers of HbF and Phenotypic Severity in Malaysian β-Thalassemia patients”. In this project, we determined Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs) that could modulate disease severity in Malaysian β-Thalassemia patients. Identification of these SNPs will be important for personalized medicine and future management of β-Thalassemia patients.
