Webinar on “Molecular Medicine in the Era of Digitization and Data Analytics”

On 27th January 2021, 2.15 p.m. Malaysia time, UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) and Codon Genomics Sdn Bhd has jointly organized a webinar entitled “Molecular Medicine in the Era of Digitization and Data Analytics”. The webinar was chaired by Assoc Prof Dr Low Teck Yew and aired live using Zoom and UMBI’s official Facebook page platforms. There were 330 attendees who joined us on live webcast ranging from university lecturers, clinical scientists, health science researchers, postgraduate and undergraduate students. The recorded Facebook streaming accumulated approximately 500 views (up to 29^th January 2021).

                The speakers for the webinar were from UMBI and Codon Genomics; Dr. Nurul Syakima Ab Mutalib, Dr. Noraidatulakma Abdullah, Dr. Muhammad Irfan Abdul Jalal, Su-Boon Chua, Ching-Yee Lau and Dr. Wei-Kang Lee. The speakers covered a wide range of topics on big data analysis from next-generation sequencing (NGS) and genome-wide association study (GWAS) in diseases that are very prevalent in the Malaysia healthcare system. They shared their research and strategies in managing and analyzing big data. Attendees had the chance to ask questions at the Q&A session at the end of the session and also interact with the speakers in the chat box during the live session. The webinar ended at 5.00 p.m. Malaysia time.
