BAHAN SENSOR UNTUK PENGESANAN FLUORIDA BERASASKAN
KOMPLEKS Al-CAS TERPEGUN DALAM FILEM SOL-GEL

Abstract
An
aluminium-chrome azurol S (Al-CAS) complex entrapped in a sol-gel film was
found to respond well to the presence of fluoride ion in aqueous solution. The
dip-coating technique was used to prepare the sol-gel film on microscope glass
slide support from sol solution containing Al-CAS complex. The doped sol-gel
film, which was transparent could be characterized by using UV-visible
Spectrophotometer. The study showed that the entrapped Al-CAS complex changed
its colour from pink to yellow when dipped in fluoride solution at optimum pH
of 5.5. The sensing material was found to be reproducible when reacted with
fluoride ion (RSD = 5.3 %) and showed good photo stability (RSD 3.7%) for at
least 8 hours duration. However, the signal produced by the sensing material is
weak and electronic data processing method is needed to amplify the signal.
