Guidelines For Presenters

A)  ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

 

  • Abstracts must be submitted through https://forms.gle/RKJKX8vD9EmEBihh9
  • A maximum of two abstracts (one oral and one poster) are allowed to be submitted from each institution. No abstract submission is needed for 3-minute research pitch.
  • Submission deadline is 2nd June 2024.
  • Abstracts must be written in English with a maximum of 250 words using the template provided.
  • Abstracts must not contain references, tables, and figures.
  • Accepted abstracts will be published in the NDSSC 2024 programme book.

 

B)  ORAL PRESENTATION

 

  • Time allocated for each pair of presenters is 10 minutes (5 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q & A). First bell will be rung at 3rd minute and second bell will be rung at 5th minute to signal the end of presentation. Third bell will be rung at 10th minute to indicate the end of the Q & A session.
  • PowerPoint slides for oral presentation should not exceed 15 slides. 
  • PowerPoint presentation slides should be emailed to ndsscukm@gmail.com by 25th of June 2024. Name your file as Oral_your institution e.g. Oral_UKM
  • Slide size: Widescreen; Slide orientation: Landscape

 

C)  POSTER PRESENTATION

 

  • Time allocated for each pair of presenters is 10 minutes (5 minutes presentation + 5 minutes Q & A). First bell will be rung at 3rd minute and second bell will be rung at 5th minute to signal the end of presentation. Third bell will be rung at 10th minute to indicate the end of the Q & A session.
  • Only one static PowerPoint slide is allowed for poster presentation.
  • Save the PowerPoint slide as a PDF file and email it to ndsscukm@gmail.com by 25th of June 2024. Name your file as Poster_your institution e.g. Poster_UKM
  • Slide size: Widescreen; Slide orientation: Landscape

 

D)  3-MINUTE RESEARCH PITCH

 

  • Participants give a 3-minute pitch of research results that is designed to be understandable to a general public.
  • All talks must be given in English.
  • This will be followed by a 5-minute Q & A session with the judges.
  • First bell will be rung at 3rd minute to signal the end of talk. Second bell will be rung at 8th minute to indicate the end of the Q & A session.
  • Participants are evaluated based on content, clarity and charisma.
  • Minimal props related to the topic are allowed. However, no set-up time allowed for props/equipment.
  • Slide presentations are not permitted.
