KANEKA CORPORATION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

OBJECTIVE

The UKM-KANEKA Corporation Fellowship Program is a research fellowship program for ASEAN scholars to promote discourse and exchange of thoughts, as well as strengthening relations, among scholars in ASEAN region countries.

Candidates are expected:

  1. Conducting research and publication activities at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies (IKMAS). The activities can also be conducted other faculties/institutes in UKM, especially those involved with regional studies and international studies; and
  2. Enhancing knowledge and understanding of the regional developments and of ASEAN member countries in addressing current issues
  3. Presenting series of lectures/talks on economic, political, cultural or social developments in their respective countries during fellowship period.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Candidates must have on-going research on ASEAN.
  • Candidates are from ASEAN countries.
  • A Ph.D holder.
  • There is no age restriction for entry.

DURATION

The fellowship will be from 1st Aug 2024 – 30th Aug 2024 (1 month)

FELLOWSHIP

Application deadline:
15 May 2024

Please submit the following document in English:

  • One page write-up of your existing research topic and expected deliverable from the fellowship;
  • Cover letter addressing to the Selection Committee KANEKA Fellowship;
  • Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages);
  • Copy of your PhD certificate;

Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.

PROGRAM DESIGN

  • Continuously conducting research in UKM for 1 month;
  • Engaging IKMAS Fellows on your research and publication;
  • Presenting a seminar during your stay in UKM;
  • Producing an article for IKMAS Working Paper during fellowship period;
  • Publishing at least one Scopus/WOS indexed journal publication with IKMAS Fellows within six month after the fellowship period.

STATION/BASE

Candidates would be based in UKM, Malaysia.
