OBJECTIVE
The UKM-Nippon Foundation Young Scholar Program is a research fellowship program for eligible post-doctoral scholars engaged in research, education and community engagement activities on various topics and issues relating to peace and human security in the Indo-Pacific region.
ELIGIBILITY
Priorities Beneficiaries:
Postdoctoral fellows from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar (CLM).
However, the following candidates are also eligible:
Postdoctoral fellows from Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Timor-Leste; Pacific Island nations, and members of Malaysian APIFAN.
Candidates must have on-going research on topic and issues relating to peace and human security in the Indo-Pacific region.
FELLOWSHIP
Application deadline: 26 August 2024
Please submit the following document in English:
One-page write-up of your existing research topic and expected deliverable from the fellowship;
Cover letter addressing to the Selection Committee UKM-Nippon Foundation Young Scholar Program;
Curriculum Vitae (max. 2 pages);
Copy of your PhD certificate;

DURATION
The fellowship will be from 1st Oct 2024 – 31st Oct 2024 (1 month)
STATION/BASE
Candidates would be based in UKM, Malaysia.
PROGRAM DESIGN
Continuously conducting research in UKM for 1 month;
Engaging IKMAS Fellows on your research and publication;
Presenting a seminar during your stay in UKM;
Producing an article for IKMAS Working Paper during fellowship period; and
Publishing at least one Scopus/WOS indexed journal publication with IKMAS Fellows within one year after the fellowship period.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All works produced during the fellowship program shall conform to the UKM rules and regulations.26
