ABSTRACT
The study focus on phase behavior of three types of Glucopone: Glucopone 215CS UP, Glucopone 600CS and Glucopone 650EC in isopropyl miristate (lPM) and water mixture. The results showed different behaviors among the three types of surfactant even though this involves the same alkyl poliglucosides group but different mixtures of alkylpolyglucosides. In the case of Glucopone 215CS UP it gave emulsion and gel phases, Glucopone 600CS gave emulsion, gel and lamellar phases and Glucopone 650EC gave emulsion and microemulsion phases. Based on the emulsion stability index, the best emulsion of three series Glucopone are obtained when IPM is in excess. Emulsions occur in the range of less than 20% Glucopone. The homogenizer which runs at a high speed of 24 kHz gave emulsion size of ca. 1.0 µm, that is the droplet size is smaller and more stable than emulsion size of ca, 4.0 µm produced by vortex mixer running speed at 40 Hz.
