Abstract

Sec-butylpropyldithiocarbamate   compounds   of   zinc(II),   cadmium(II)   and   stibium(III)   have   been successfully synthesized by stoichiometric reaction of N-sec-butyl-N-propylamine, carbon disulphide and ammonia with respective metal salts using the in situ method with some modification. Gravimetric and elemental analysis data showed that the ratio of metal to ligand were in agreement with the suggested molecular formula, M[S2CNR1R2]n   (M = Zn, Cd and Sb; R1  = -CH(CH3)(C2H5), R2   = -C3H7; n = 2 or 3).  Infrared  spectrum  showed  four significant  absorption  peaks, ν(C-H), ν(CN), ν(CS) dan ν(M-S) within the range. In 13C NMR   spectrum  showed   a peak in  the  region of  200.69 - 203.73 ppm, which was attributed   to the NCS2             group.      The single       crystal      structures of bis(N-sec-butyl-N- propyldithiocarbamato)zinc(II) and bis(N-sec-butyl-N-propyldithiocarbamato)cadmium(II) have been determined. The structure of both compounds is in monoclinic system with space group P21/n and P21/c respectively. The bidentate behaviour of the dithiocarbamate moieties exhibited in the crystal structures of both compounds.
