Project Title: Intelligent and Smart Monitoring for Nuclear Reactor Security

The project is intended for the reactor site. Enabling the user to monitor the site from miles through the Android apps. It also consists of camera for the monitoring purposes. The user needs the Internet connection to control the rover through the apps. The rover also included the sensor such as humidity and ultrasonic sensors for safety and monitoring purposes. The sensor will triggered if something goes wrong in the site such as fire or smoke detected and changes in the humidity. The ultrasonic is for the rover's movement, it will alert the user if there is an obstacle ahead while the user controlling the rover. This will prevent the user from hitting the obstacle and damaging the rover. Finally, the rover can reduce the exposure of user from radioactive ray.

Internet benda ialah jaringan melalui internet diantara peranti berkomputer yang terdapat di dalam objek yang membolehkan penghantaran dan penerimaan data. Rumah pintar merupakan salah satu aplikasi internet benda yang sering menjadi tumpuan masyarakat serta terlihat mempunyai potensi besar di dalam industri. Oleh itu sebuah kajian bagi menambahbaik salah satu perkakasan sistem automasi rumah pintar dijalankan. Secara umum nya, kajian ini dijalankan bertujuan untuk membangun sistem pencahayaan pintar. Sistem ini direka bagi memastikan pengguna mendapat pencahayaan yang bersesuaian dengan aktiviti yang dilakukan. Hal ini demikian kerana, sistem pencahayaan yang tidak baik akan memberi kesan terhadap kesihatan mata. Selain itu, sistem ini juga direka bagi mengatasi masalah pembaziran tenaga. Sistem ini terdiri daripada sebuah perkakasan (hardware) yang terdiri daripada sensor cahaya, lampu LED, litar pengawal kecerahan LED serta pengawal mikro iaitu raspberry pi. Sistem ini dikawal menggunakan telefon pintar dengan perisian aplikasi android yang dibangunkan. Skop kajian ini hanya terhad kepada beberapa aktiviti harian sahaja yang boleh dilakukan di ruangan yang berbeza di dalam sesebuah kediaman.

The smart element in the home security system is the capability to control and be controlled from distance away from home through IOT platform. Seperti aplikasi yag sedia ada, tidak banyak aplikasi yang dapat menangkap isyarat fotopletismogram menggunakan telefon pintar dan mempunyai kekurangan dari segi ketepatan isyarat yang diperolehi. Oleh itu, projek ini adalah untuk membina aplikasi android telefon pintar untuk menangkap isyarat fotopletismogram menggunakan sensor cahaya dan menghasilkan isyarat yang bersih yang boleh diguna pakai untuk kegunaan lain seperti penjagaan kardio. Pembinaan aplikasi telefon pintar untuk menangkap isyarat fotopletismogram ini menggunakan platform android studio. Penangkapan isyarat fotopletismogram ini menggunakan kamera dan sensor cahaya terbina dalam telefon pintar. Isyarat yang diperolehi akan di hantar ke simpanan awan untuk di proses menggunakan matlab bagi menghasilkan isyarat bersih. Isyarat baru yang dihasilkan akan dipaparkan di aplikasi android yang dibina. Di dalam aplikasi tersebut mempunyai layar utama untuk pengguna mengakses masuk dengan mengisi maklumat diri sebelum meneruskan proses menangkap isyarat fotopletismogram. Setelah menangkap isyarat, hasil isyarat yang ditangkap dan isyarat yang telah diproses akan dipaparkan pada layar hasil dalam aplikasi tersebut. Akhir sekali, penguna boleh menyemak hasil isyarat yang ditangkap sebelum ini dan siapa penguna akhir pada layar sejarah aplikasi tersebut.

Auditory Training System is a potential intervention to increase the perception of speech in noise and spatial processing ability of elderly individuals who have reduced hearing capacity due to ageing. In Malaysia, the main challenge in exercising auditory training is found to be the language limitation. There is no Malay language based Auditory Training System in the market currently. The purpose of this study is to design speech enhancement algorithms for real-time processing of the target speech in a home-based developed Auditory Training System by verifying the quality and intelligibility through a simulation platform. The developed simulation platform works under two modules: input speech verifying module and virtual acoustic control module. Input speech verifying module is employed with speech and noise separator; speech enhancer. Instantaneous mixing model and microphone array are used to design the input/mixing SNR level to prepare real-life acoustic environment for speech enhancer. Speech and noise separator guarantee accurate and high speed separation of speech and noise signals using multichannel source separation algorithms. The designed speech-noise separation index statistical validity was established based on projection pursuit and fast independent component analysis algorithms.

Research Title: The Identification of New CT Scan Markers to Diagnose Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy in Primary Intracerebral Hemorrhage

Primary intracerebral hemorrhage (p-ICH) most commonly occurs due to chronic hypertension or cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA). The gold standard, Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) can differentiate between more obvious cases but Computed Tomography (CT) remains the preferred imaging modality for its availability, affordability and accessibility in most developing countries. Differentiating them on CT is the challenge addressed in this study. The problem remains in distinguishing CAA from hypertensive ICH based on CT brain image. The purpose of this study is to improve the yield of CT imaging to better differentiate between the two. The algorithm was developed to identify the CT markers to enable the clustering of the CT image according to the brain parenchyma. The clustering was done by categorizing the clusters into visible and invisible bleed and the processed images were validated against blinded assessors.

Research Title: Development of Hybrid Epileptic Discharge Detection Algorithm for Electroencephalography (EEG)

My research aims to develop reliable method in assisting evaluation of the electrophysiological changes in EEG during epileptic discharge. The Computerized Recognition of Epileptic Discharge (CREED) algorithm developed in this research comprises of adaptive segmentation algorithm to segment EEG into smaller epoch while reducing the risk of segmenting the epileptic discharge area. This hybrid algorithm utilizes morphological technique in the first stage and mimetic technique in the second stage.

Gaya hidup dan kecergasan adalah perkara yang penting untuk mengekalkan kesihatan individu. Gaya hidup yang tidak aktif secara tidak langsung menyebabkan manusia terdedah kepada faktor-faktor risiko penyakit kardiovaskular. Faktor risiko kardiovaskular mencabar tahap kesihatan dalam kalangan generasi muda sejak akhirakhir ini. Penyakit dislipidemia adalah salah satu faktor risiko utama di mana ia berada ditangga kedua tertinggi (55.9%) selepas tekanan darah tinggi (72.9%). Ketiadaan sistem pemantauan profil lipid meningkatkan cabaran pemantauan dalam kalangan pesakit. Berdasarkan kajian risiko kardiovaskular, faktor risiko menyebabkan perubahan fungsi dan struktur salur darah pusat dan periferi. Mengetahui perubahan ciri-ciri dalam salur darah boleh memberi pelbagai maklumat berkaitan dengan kesihatan kardiovaskular. Fotopletismogram (PPG) adalah teknik optik bukan invasif yang digunakan secara meluas dalam aplikasi penilaian dan pemantauan risiko penyakit kardiovaskular.

Cerebral blood flow (CBF) is a critical physiological parameter that ensures adequate oxygen and nutrient delivery to the brain, essential for maintaining brain function and tissue viability. In patients with microvascular ischemic disease (MVID), disruptions in CBF can lead to ischemic events, cognitive impairment, and other neurological complications. Continuous bedside mon- itoring of CBF is crucial for early detection of perfusion deficits and timely intervention to prevent irreversible tissue damage. This research aims to develop a comprehensive cerebral hemodynamic formulation tailored for real-time monitoring of CBF in MVID patients, inte- grating advanced computational modeling with bedside monitoring techniques. By combining computational simulations with clinical monitoring tools, this study seeks to enhance our un- derstanding of cerebral hemodynamics in MVID and improve patient outcomes in neurocritical care settings.

Currently on finalizing the result of the signal based on 2 data acquisitions at PPUKM and Pusat Kesihatan, UKM. The analysis of the result is based on the data collection for Atrial Fibrillation subjects and control subjects among healthy and hypertension subjects. During 5 years of my research, there are a lot of new finding and knowledge that i gain through it. My research study based on the photoplethysmogram signal (PPG) that is captured from index finger to get the blood volume changes or pressure of the blood flow using optical technique either transmission sensor or reflection sensor. Along my research i used 3 types of devices that is ECG (borrowed from UMBI), PPG (Nivar1 XMed-1and Dolphin ONE™ 210 Adult Finger Clip) to get the raw data signal to be analyses for pre-processing to get the output result of the signal.

Research Title: Forecasting Model for Ionosperic GPS Total Electron Content Over Malaysia Region

Total Electron Content (TEC) is one of the physical quantities that can be derived from global positioning system (GPS) data and provides an indication of ionospheric variability. TEC variations have significant effects on radio communications, applications involving navigational systems, GPS surveying and space weather. In order to understand these effects, there is a need to develop forecasting techniques. Several ionospheric models have been developed to predict the ionospheric variability at different locations of the world. However, due to the scarcity of data in the equatorial region, the models do not give accurate forecasting of the ionospheric variability over Malaysia region. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the possibilities for the modeling of TEC values derived from the GPS Ionospheric Scintillation and TEC Monitor (GISTM) receiver using feed forward neural network (NN). It also aims to investigate the TEC forecasting method for radio wave propagation value during both equinox and solstices periods.
