On behalf of the Conference Committee, I am honored to welcome you to the 2016 International Conference on Science and Technology Applications in Climate Change (STACLIM 2016) which is held biannually under the theme `Advancing Science and Technology Applications for Climate Change Responses;`.
Many are aware that climate change has become a crucial issue for today`s world community. Its impacts influence many aspects in a life cycle and therefore, in need of in-depth studies in various aspects (multidisciplinary), whereby the outputs can be used by policy makers.
Started in 2015, the conference aims to address various issues such as the immense haze disaster in 2015, killings of wild and domestic animals out of sport and demand, flood and so many more that require our immediate attention and action. The conference is organized by Space Science Centre (ANGKASA) of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in collaboration with the Faculty of Science and Natural Resources of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) as well as the ANGKASA Student Association (ASA) under the Institute of Climate Change (IPI), UKM. The conference will also gather all scientists, engineers, practitioners, policy makers and students relating to the field of science, technology and multidisciplinary to offer their contributions in addressing widely climate change issues.
All accepted papers will be published in the journal of Advanced Science Letters by the American Scientific Publishers (ISSN: 1936-6612 (Print): EISSN: 1936-7317 (Online)). The journal is indexed in SCOPUS and other databases, covers the area of computer science, energy, social science, mathematics, engineering and environmental science. Further details on the journal, please visit the Advanced Science Letters website.
This year, STACLIM 2016 will commence in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah for two days. There will be speeches from distinguished keynote speakers, parallel oral sessions and poster presentations. Three Best Papers Awards will also be awarded at the end of the conference. Finally, I would like to invite you to a workshop on a new GPS method called TroWav which will be held two days prior to the conference. The workshop provides an introduction, demonstration and a hands-on session in using GPS techniques on various applications beyond atmospheric sciences. The workshop includes radio navigation systems, instrumentation, tropospheric delay modelling and TroWav algorithms, data processing, TroWav implementation, data analysis and interpretation. Kindly go through our STACLIM website for further details.
Lastly, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all STACLIM 2016 committee, fellow sponsors, reviewers, authors, sponsors, and everyone who contributed directly and indirectly in making this conference a success.
