Aimed at promoting oral health and motivating children to care for their teeth, the program included dental examinations by pediatric registrars, a coloring contest, and educational sessions on dental care. This initiative seeks to instill good oral hygiene habits in young children.
From Curiosity to Career: Inspiring the Next Generation in Dentistry
The Detektif Gigi program, organized in collaboration with Muhsin Kids, UKM Faculty of Dentistry, CSI Experience, GIATMARA Petaling Jaya, and the School of Creative Childcare, aimed to introduce children to the fields of dentistry and forensics. Through interactive activities, the program sparked interest in STEM education, helping children explore potential careers in these important fields. This initiative aligns with community service by fostering early career awareness, empowering young minds, and encouraging active participation in educational activities.
Oral Health for All Generations
The Program Kesihatan Mulut Komuniti (Community Oral Health Program) is a key part of the Year 5 curriculum at UKM, providing dental students with real-world experience beyond the classroom. Students deliver oral health services to senior citizens at the Pusat Jagaan Mahmudah, Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas (PAWE) UKM Bangi, and Persatuan Warga Emas Kg. Sg. Tua, Batu Caves. Activities include dental check-ups, oral hygiene education, and preventive care. This program enhances students' clinical skills while fostering empathy and understanding of the importance of community service in healthcare, preparing them to become compassionate dental professionals.
